We went to see Maceo Parker play
at the Jazz Cafe and Colin Jones (the original alto
sax player) literally bumped into this guy. They got
chatting and he turned out to be an original member
of Funkadelic...you know...he's played with Bootsy Collins,
Maceo, Fred Wesley and of course George Clinton!...
and not just once or twice, I mean he toured with them
for years. As it turned out he was in the country for
about 3 months and during that time we developed a kind
of friendship with him that resulted in us working together
on a track in the studio. All too soon the 3 month's
were up and he left our path just as quickly as he'd
joined it. The track was never finished and lays on
a shelf somewhere in a dusty tin marked 'FUNKY GREASE
PIECE'.
Hey....what's that...I can hear
something (turn yo speakers up!)
Track title: Funky Grease Piece
Music: The Blunter Brothers
Lyrics: Graham Snell, Cordell 'Boogie'
Masson & the Blunter Brothers.
